About

Here's a brief introduction of my blog, which, I suppose, should also introduce me. I'm Nicolas Allen, and I write all the stories on Thought Fodder. I started writing as a kid, putting my active imagination to use. My first stories were about ghosts, aliens, and superheroes, and as I matured the stories did too. Gunfights, spies, and car chases caught my fancy, and I even dabbled in futuristic tales. But I came to realize that a really good story does more than entertain; it communicates an idea. All writers have worldviews, and they infuse their work with commentaries on life. I wanted to do the same.

My worldview differs from that of most people, having an objective, unchanging source. Since everyone in American culture has the "right" of self-determination, everything has become relative. One person's truth is as good as another's, and it's insensitive to say otherwise. That mindset quickly spills over into morality, and what once was black and white is now gray. A person can no longer claim to have authority in matters of truth or morality without being accused of gross arrogance. Yet truth does exist. Facts remain facts regardless of whether a person knows or believes them. The question, then, is which source of authority is actually right. I've found that the only sufficient standard of truth and morality is the Bible, which makes sense of human experience like nothing else can, and without which, human experience does not make sense.

In this blog, I'll highlight aspects of our modern-day experience in story form using the science fiction genre. The stories will contain the biblical worldview as it relates to specific issues. Thus, they will likely challenge your beliefs. I encourage you to read them for that purpose. Let them challenge you, and decide whether you should keep, modify, or change your views. Do some research to be sure you understand all sides of an issue, and keep subjectivity out of the process.

To help you get started, at the end of each story I include relevant links and videos (where possible) from liberal, conservative, and Christian sources. As you look around, ask hard questions of each source, especially if you agree with it. Please do the same with my stories, and let me know what you think in the comment thread. I would love to hear any comments or critiques you have from an ideological or literary standpoint, since another reason for this blog is to improve my writing. I may not always be able to respond, so hopefully you'll interact with other readers as well. But be nice -- worldviews tend to clash.

Anyway, that's enough intro. Enjoy the blog!

Sincerely,
                  Nicolas Allen
